About MARTINE
Born and raised by the iconic Bondi coast, Martine Springer is a contemporary artist, who explores the relationship between the human form and Nature. Her art-making began at age 14, when she picked up her Dadʼs Minolta camera & fell in love with the process.

After being selected for Art Express, she was accepted into Sydney College of the Arts, where she studied photography and film for 3 years, receiving a BA in Visual arts. She subsequently received a diploma in Colour, at The School of Colour and Design.

Later she became enamoured with the process of painting on canvas, developing her technique through lessons with local artists. Gabbi Lancaster in particular, an Australian born artist & mentor, has been a huge inspiration to Martine. Gabbi lead the way with her wonderfully expressive sessions amongst nature, as well as her ‘Art Of Flow’ online courses, sharing many invaluable techniques in both arenas, giving Martine the freedom to paint intuitively with complete trust. Gabbi’s teachings were in complete alignment with Martine’s practices as a Certified Lifeline Technique Practitioner and her holistic approach towards healing.
Martine has studied various healing modalities, her spiritual connection to nature influencing her artistic practice. Her art is best described as a healing on canvas, the multidimensional work filled with expressive brushwork.

In 2018 she showcased her art in a gallery exhibition in Glebe, whereby one of her nude portraits were selected and featured in the Spectrum section of the Sydney morning Herald.

Martine typically works with acrylic and Impasto medium, as well as other textures, including mixed media. Her process is spontaneous, often creating a multitude of organic layers in an semi-abstract depiction of Australian Flora, Fauna & the human form. She describes her inspiration as flowing intuitively, tapping into an intangible energy with complete trust, just allowing the paint and the brush to guide her along a path.

Her interweaving of creativity and healing are evident within the her art. Many of her paintings are reflective of the personal journey she has taken in her path of healing, as well as the joy and freedom she now experiences from living consciously from a space of trust.
